The agricultural demonstration that was to be held in Brussels on 13 and 14 December has been canceled. The demonstration with tractors was to be held simultaneously at the Agriculture Council of the EU ministers, but has now been canceled due to the renewed corona pandemic. This is reported by the German organization Land Schafft Connection LsV.
Instead, the LSV-D calls for ideas for alternative actions. The now canceled demonstration in Brussels was organized by activist farming clubs from multiple EU countries, including Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic.
The European umbrella organizations of farmers' associations (COPA) and rural cooperatives (COGECA) were not involved in the planning of the protest. National umbrella organizations such as the DBV and the LTO had also distanced themselves from it.
Although the European umbrella organization European Milk Board (EMB) had announced its participation, the German Bund Deutscher Milchviehhalter (BDM) had canceled its participation in advance.
The BDM referred to the continued criticism from FDF and LsV of the Green Deal and the farm-to-fork strategy. Representatives of the German Farmers' Union (DBV) also criticized the demonstration, according to Agrarheute.com.
