Campaigns promoting sustainably produced agrifood products receive 62 million euros, of which 42 million is for organic products. These categories include, for example, products that help reduce dependence on pesticides and antibiotics, and minimize the use of artificial fertilizers and water pollution.
The European Union is not allowed to support the promotion of meat products and alcohol with subsidies under any circumstances, emphasized Dutch Agriculture Minister Piet Adema earlier. According to him, this is a responsibility for businesses and their organizations themselves. The minister believes that if subsidies are granted at all, they should only go to sustainably produced and healthy products.
In the recent period, industry sectors and lobby groups could submit proposals for EU-supported promotion to Brussels. The European Commission will co-finance more than three-quarters of the selected projects.
The European Union will also carry out communication campaigns itself in third countries, such as participation in trade fairs, business delegations, and assistance with market access for exporters.
The opportunity to submit new proposals for the next campaigns opens on January 18 and runs until May 14.
